Ben Nevis Climb for VHL 23rd May 2015

I have known since I was 13 that I am a carrier of VHL. My mum had VHL and had tumors on her kidneys, pancreas and adrenal glands. However she would not have them operated on and sadly died aged 46. I have had numerous surgeries since I turned 21 including 3 brain surgeries to remove 2 tumors (2007 + 2013). Laser surgery to remove a growth on each eye (2007) and my left adrenal gland removed due a tumor inside and out (2009). All my tumors have been benign and surgery went well. With recent surgery and scans, revealed I have 2 more tumors on my brain, these will continue to be monitored until the time comes when they need to be removed. I know in my lifetime I will never be free of VHL and probably have many surgeries ahead. With annual screening I know I am well monitored!
