My story

Please help us to keep Two Temple Place exhibitions free!

Following on from the success of our 2016 'Beyond Beauty' exhibition, we are now seeking your support for our 2017 exhibition. Please help us bring Sussex Modernism to London next year. We plan to collaborate with the East Sussex Cultural Consortium* to explore how artistic innovation went hand-in-hand with domestic and social experimentation amongst the Bloomsbury and Surrealist groups. Your donation will help us delve into the lives and works of artists, writers, collectors and architects including Vanessa Bell, Duncan Grant, Eric Gill, David Jones, Eric Ravilious, John Piper, Paul Nash, Lee Miller, Virginia Woolf, Ezra Pound and W.B. Yeats.

*Jerwood Gallery, De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill-on-Sea Towner, Charleston, Farley Farm House and Ditchling Museum of Art & Craft.

Most of the funding for 'Beyond Beauty' was secured through generous donations and support from a range of sources, including Arts Council England. However, we still need to raise further funds to secure a sustainable future for the exhibition programme. This will enable us to keep producing exhibitions of the highest quality, engaging events programmes and stimulating educational workshops for primary school children.

Our exhibitions are open to the public six days per week, free of charge and we aim to produce as many free tours, talks, workshops and resources as possible and attract diverse audiences to the beautiful building.

You can make future Two Temple Place exhibitions even better!

Thank you for any level of support you are able to offer and don't forget to collect an "I Heart Two Temple Place" sticker from reception!

  • £25 will entitle the donor to a free catalogue, to thank them for their support. (Please bring the print out of your donation when visiting the exhibition.)

  • £100 and over will entitle the donor to a free catalogue and place on a future tour of Two Temple Place (Please call us quoting your donor number to arrange this.)

  • Please GIFT AID wherever possible.

'Beyond Beauty: Transforming the Body in Ancient Egypt' was produced in partnership with Bagshaw Museum (Kirklees Council), Bexhill Museum, Bolton Museum, Ipswich Museum, Macclesfield Museums, Royal Pavilion & Museums (Brighton & Hove) and Touchstones Rochdale.

Since launching in 2011, the Winter Exhibition Programme at Two Temple Place has established a reputation for excellence and originality, attracting over 150,000 visitors and has been instrumental in enabling our regional partner museums to raise over £6 million in further funding. Two Temple Place, a magnificent neo-gothic mansion, is owned and run by the charity The Bulldog Trust. The exhibition programme aligns the trust's belief in the importance of preserving our rich, local cultural heritage with a desire to open Two Temple Place to the public free of charge. The programme is specifically designed to raise the profile of the many extraordinary but unsung collections contained within public museums across the UK. Exhibitions provide a unique opportunity for partner museums to undertake advocacy work to develop their own networks and increase their influencing power from a central London platform.
