St Clare Hospice is a charity that cares for people with terminal illnesses in West Essex and the bordering areas of East Hertfordshire. Our concern is the well-being of the whole person. So as well as controlling our patients' physical symptoms, we try to meet their emotional, psychological and spiritual needs as well. We also look after families and carers, whether it is providing advice & information, lending equipment to help to help them at home or offering conselling before and after the death of their loved one. We make to charge for our services, we are free to absolutely anyone who needs us. It costs £2.5 million a year to keep the Hospice going. The NHS provides only 30% of our funding. All the rest - over £4,000 a day - has to come from our supporters.
