Description:
International Development Partnerships (IDP) works to improve access to heath-care for poor isolated communities in rural Ethiopia by increasing the capacity of local hospitals and health centres.
Our project will rehabilitate and re-equip run-down health facilities in remote, rural parts of the country where medical facilities are few and far between.
The project will benefit all members of the local communities it seeks to serve, but it will be of particular advantage to women and girls who often have little access to preventative health care and advice due to the distances involved.
Our overall aim is to relieve the causes and effects of poverty, suffering and distress among disadvantaged communities in Ethiopia. We do this by improving people?s access to health, education, food security, clean water and economic development by strengthening and enhancing the effectiveness of local institutional capacity. We believe that improvements in health care, for example, will be of little value in the long term without corresponding improvements in sanitation, education, food security, etc.
As a small charity, we strive to keep core operating costs to a minimum; hence, our work is largely undertaken by volunteers.
