ternaya cummings is raising money for Southern Brooks Community Partnerships
My name is Ternaya and I have had long hair all of my life.
As part of National Charities Week this year, I have decided to cut my hair off to my chin for 2 charities which mean a lot to me.
The first charity is The Little Princess Trust. They are an organisation who make wigs for children suffering from Cancer. Losing their hair can be very traumatic for a child and I would love to be able to a smile on a child's face whilst they are going through this challenge period of their lives. The wigs are made from real hair and are given to children for free. My hair will be donated directly to this charity.
The second charity is very close to my heart - Southern Brooks Community Partnerships. They are a small local charity based in Patchway, South Gloucestershire and covering the whole area. I have worked for the organisation for nearly 10 years and have worked across all of the teams.
About 10 years ago my daughter (then aged 12) went through a very challenging stage in her life. She became involved with the wrong crowd and her behaviour became challenging towards everyone. She was unruly in school and was at risk of exclusion. Southern Brooks stepped in and supported my daughter over a period of nearly a year. During this time she built a positive relationship with one of her workers. This worker really helped and helped improve her self-esteem and self-worth. Since this support, my daughter completed her GCSE's, went onto college and passed her A-Levels and was part of the Bristol Young Student of the year awards. She went onto Cardiff University and graduated in Accountancy last year. She now lives in Plymouth and works for an international accountancy firm. I honestly believe that without the support of Southern Brooks, my daughter and I would not be where we are today.
For this reason, amongst many others, any money I raise will go towards Southern Brooks Community Partnerships.
One of the projects in Southern Brooks that the money will go towards is our Christmas Hamper appeal. Every year, Southern Brooks supports families and individuals who are living in deprivation. We currently work with over 60 families / individuals that really need our support. Having a hamper at Christmas will make a huge difference to them.
The other project the money will go towards is our free Christmas Party we put on for local families in our café. Last year we had over 50 children attend this party. The children took part in arts & crafts activities, dancing games and each child received a gift from Mother Claus. We also provide a free buffet for all of the families attending. Without funding, these types of activities we provide would not be able to take place.
Please, please do donate to these very special causes.
Thank you and Merry Christmas
Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Southern Brooks Community Partnerships.
