Sanitary towels for Christmas

We want to raise enough money to be able to buy washable sanitary pads for all the girls and female staff at Uzima.
Uzima is an orphanage near Kisumu in Western Kenya. In February I shall be going there with 4 others including charity Trustee, Joy Mowle to spend a fortnight helping with their work.
My Auntie Monica has sourced the kits which consist of washable sanitary pads to last a girl for one year. They are made by an ethical company in Uganda using local labour and will be dispatched to Kisumu near Uzima where I shall collect them and take them to Uzima.
Having sanitary pads will allow girls to continue with their daily lives every day of the month instead of having to either stay at home or use rags during their menstruation. It will reduce their risk of infection and ensure they can continue with their education uninterrupted.

We have reached the target of £500 needed to purchase enough kits for all the girls and women. Any surplus will go towards buying underpants for the boys at Uzima - which we will purchase in England and take with us in February
