Rachael Howden is raising money for Little Hiccups

My story

Right, I know I've pestered you all 2018 raising money on behalf of Alzheimer's and St Gemma's, and I know every year you are asked, but I am at it again for one of the most amazing charities I know.

This year is the 10th Birthday of Little Hiccups, this is an amazing Leeds based charity; a parent led support group for children with a disability or additional need and their family.

In the time that I've known Little Hiccups I've been humbled by the work they've done, the difference they've made and just how inspiring and amazing these parents, families and without a shadow of a doubt these kids are. The challenges they have in their lives that they overcome I can't dream of ever dealing with, and these families cope every day.

Read about Emily, Oliver, Jack or Jenna, honestly I don't know these children, I know Mim and her horde, but I've met some of these kids and their parents and I just walk away awestruck, they make the most out of life and they face challenges each day with smiles, tears and strength. littlehiccups.co.uk/blog.htm

The work Little Hiccups do is in some ways small, it is a stay and play session that all the children can be part of, it is cinema trips (sounds simple - think feed pumps, wheelchairs, walking frames and giddy kids), bowling, all those activities you and I take for granted and these families now get to experience, with other families who know what they are going through and can support them.

SO why do I want your money, well this year the challenge is on, with all that they manage the least I can do is run a MARATHON. I mean I say I can but I reckon blisters, tears and a tantrum is likely.

Now I've been banging on about running for a while, but after two years of going from 1 mile to 13 miles (literally once in September but it counts) I've decided yeah, of course I can run 26.2 miles. So a Marathon is the real deal, it is my challenge, it is the one I said I'd never do, and I'll be 40 so that won't help.

I reckon that deserves a couple of quid, one less coffee for you (that is a sacrifice to me) will mean so much to this charity, they really do value each individual donation.
You can track my pain here but I wouldn't it will be dull - runtubbyrun.home.blog
