Oliver's Wilmslow Half Marathon to help girls school in S W Uganda

Event date: 24th March 2013

Clare Ramsden is raising money for THE MARY WOOD TRUST

My story

He has done it!
On a freezing cold day, in bitter easterly winds, Oliver completed the Wilmslow Half Marathon in 2 hours, 17 mins 34 secs! A fantastic result .
Thanks to all of you who have sponsored him so generously. All the money will help to provide the fittings and fixtures for the new sick bay at NGSS once it is built .

On 24 March at the advanced age of 63 years and 352 days I propose to run the Wilmslow half-marathon. Apart from being for the benefit of my general well-being I would like to raise some money to help to pay to fit out a new sick bay at Nyakabungo Girls' Secondary School in a remote area of S W Uganda. The sick bay building is being financed by the Mary Wood Trust (marywoodtrust4uganda.org) but further cash is needed for the beds, plumbing, desks, shelves and so on.

The Mary Wood Trust has supported this school for over 10 years and the sick bay is the latest in a series of building projects that include classrooms, staff accommodation and dormitories. The sick bay will allow better treatment for the girls at the school who fall ill, malaria being particularly prevalent, and in particular will help speed their recovery, reduce the chance of infection spreading in a crowded school and avoid having to send girls home to recover. It is also part of a long term plan to improve health and health education in the
school and in the general area.

Whatever you can give will be much appreciated and 100% of all donations will be used for the sick bay, with no deductions for any administration or other costs.
Thank you

Oliver Ramsden
