Je me présente, je m'appelle Mathilde Berner, j'ai 23 ans et suis étudiante en architecture à l'école polytechnique de Lausanne où j'ai terminé mon bachelor l'été passé.
Je viens de terminer deux stages à Bâle et à Copenhague et réalise mon désir grandissant d'arpenter le terrain. Un désir de partage direct du savoir et des connaissances, de venir en aide et de redonner espoir.

A partir de mi mai jusqu'à fin Août, j'ai la chance de rejoindre l'aventure du bureau Orkidstudio et ainsi donc de pouvoir participer à la construction et la finition de l'hôpital du Sachibondu en Zambie.

La philosophie du bureau Orkidstudio est très bien décrite :

Le centre médical Sachibondu de Mwinilunga, un village éloigné du nord-ouest de la Zambie, était composé d'infrastructures très pauvres et d'espaces limités.
La nouvelle construction permettra une meilleure ventilation et un éclairage plus présent et efficace afin de lutter contre la propagation des infections et des maladies.

En tant que seul centre médical dans un rayon de 300 km, la petite équipe qui y travaille, est en charge d'un large éventail de soins, comprenant notamment le traitement contre la tuberculose, le paludisme et le sida.

Pour cela, nous avons besoin de votre aide !
Je me suis engagée à travailler avec Orkidstudio et avec une équipe de volontaires ayant mis en place un nouveau plan d'aménagement du site et une stratégie de développement pour le centre, incluant notamment des espaces de soins et d'habitations pour les personnes travaillant au centre ainsi que la rénovation d'un ancienne école afin d'améliorer l'éducation et la formation de futurs corps médical.

Nous avons tous reçu la mission de récolter 3000 Livres sterling avant le 28 Avril.
100 % de l'argent récolté aidera à couvrir les frais de construction, des matériaux, du mobilier et de l'équipement médical.

Welcome on my fundraising page!

I am Mathilde Berner, 23 years old architecture student and I finished my bachelor last summer. I've done few internships in Basel and Copenhagen and started feeling the need to be on the ground and devote my working spirit into a humanitarian mission.

From mid may til end of August I'll have the chance to join the adventure of Orkidstudio and participate to the construction of the Sachibondu health care in Zambia.

The philosophy of the studio is well described :

The Sachibondu Health Centre of Mwinilunga, a remote village in northwestern Zambia, had poor quality current facilities and limited spaces.
Inadequate ventilation, low level of light made the fight against the spread of infections and diseases really hard.
As the only health center within 300 km, the small team of Sachibondu is in charge of a wide range of general health care including treatments against tuberculosis, malaria and HIV.

This is why we need your help !
Around 120 people across construction, brick production and site hospitality, a mix of men and women from a number of local villages and a wonderful group of volunteers started the work last summer for 10 weeks defining a new masterplan and new stategies for the Center incorporating patient wards, clinical and testing gacilities, staff housing and even the renovation of a set of old school buildings to provide education for local children and provision of healthcare training
And this great work will continue this summer.

From now on I will be part of the externship programm, and will work on every aspect of the design and build process within an international development context.
It will be the second phase of construction that will achieve the completion and opening of the new Hospital.
We all got the mission to raise 3000 pounds before the 28th of April.
100 % of the money raised will provide the construction, materials, furnitures and medical equipments.
