About Mamie Martin Fund

The Mamie Martin Fund was established in 1993 by the family and friends of Mamie Martin to advance the education of girls in Malawi, within the catchment area of the Synod of Livingstonia in Northern Malawi.

Registered with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation on 25th February 2014.

Funds raised currently support 83 girls at Karonga Girls Secondary School, Bandawe Girls Secondary School, and Elangeni Secondary School.

Funds raised may be used to ...

Every £300 raised helps us to provide school fees for a Malawian girl who has gained a place at secondary school but who cannot afford the fees herself. The school fee primarily covers tuition, boarding and textbook fees, but also contributes towards uniform, travel, medical and exam costs. The Mamie Martin Fund employs two part-time staff, one in Scotland and one in Malawi. The positions were initially funded by a grant from the Scottish Government, but funding has also been sought from other bodies to enable the roles to continue. A small proportion of general funds are used to cover admin costs.
