Miranda Hughes is raising money for Streetwork Uk (Scotland)
Research shows that if you're rough sleeping in Scotland:
Your life expectancy is 47 years. If you're a woman, this decreases to 43 years. (Average life expectancy in Scotland is 86.6 years).
You are 13 times more likely to experience violence and 47 times more likely to be a victim of theft.
You are 3 times more likely to die in a road traffic accident.
You have a 50/50 chance of having a long-term mental illness and 9 times more likely to commit suicide.
Streetwork is a charity based in Edinburgh that supports those experiencing homelessness. Through their services they are able to reach out, respond to and help resolve homelessness.
Their services include offering access to amenities, support and immediate advice every day of the year. They go out to find and support people where they are in Edinburgh on the street, in community settings and visiting people in their homes.
Law At Work is fundraising for Streetwork over the coming year to help support them in the incredible work they do. Our first fundraising event this year is to take part in the Rough Runner 10k event on 18th August.
Inspired by TV shows such as Ninja Warriors, Gladiators and Total Wipeout, this event combines distance running with epic (terrifying) obstacles. 12 members of staff across the Company will be taking on the sweeping arms, getting soaked on the 40m water slide and trying not to fall over on the travellator.
We hope you will join us in supporting this hugely worthwhile cause by donating what you can!
Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Streetwork Uk (Scotland).
