Volker Kauschel is raising money for South East London Search And Rescue
Leon, Louis and I will climb Sydney Harbour Bridge to overcome our acrophobia (fear of heights) and to raise money for SELSAR (South East London Search and Rescue), a charity we are actively involved in and have supported in the past. The climb will last 3.5 hours with attached harness so we won't fall off the bridge. Tickets are booked and paid for and there is now no way back!
SELSAR was founded in 2012 and assists the Metropolitan Police and other Search and Rescue teams to find missing people (did you know, that last year, around 46,000 people went missing in London alone?) by providing qualified search operators as well as qualified Search and Rescue dogs The charity is run entirely by volunteers with SAR qualifications and fully dependent on private funding.
The funds raised through the Sydney Harbour Bridge Challenge will be used to train existing and new dogs to get them qualified as SAR dogs and to update search equipment (Radios, First Aid kits, etc.).
Sydney Harbour Bridge is one of the architectural masterpiece of the 1930s. It is near the Sydney Opera House and connects the Sydney CBD with the North Shore. It is the sixth longest spanning-arch bridge in the world and the tallest steel arch bridge, measuring 134 m (440 ft) from top to water level.
P.S. All donations will be matched by Volker's employer up to a certain maximum. £10 donated is thus worth £20 to the charity (and even £25 with Gift Aid).
Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto South East London Search And Rescue.
