WHISPER is a small UK registered charity focussing on children in Uganda. The charity has attracted interest and goodwill from local Ugandans, with two articles in a national newspaper and a TV documentary.
WHISPER runs the following programmes:
A transitional home for up to 21 severely ill or neglected young children, together with a small school, in Mutai, 15km north of Uganda?s second city Jinja. When children move on from the transitional home, WHISPER ensures they are going to safe, clean environment and continues to fund their education.
* A nursery school for around 100 pupils in Kagoma Gate, a settlement of former refugees near Mutai. When built, the school was the first in the area.
* A medical programme to combat jiggers. Jiggers are flesh burrowing fleas that cause infections and sometimes severe damage.
* A children's hospital in Jinja.
WHISPER has no paid staff in the UK and all our admin costs are covered by a private donor. This means 100% of the money you raise will go to our projects in Uganda.
