Description:
Stockport Progress and Recovery Centre (formerly Stockport Day Centre) is a local voluntary organisation originally founded in 1985 to provide support for adults in the Stockport area who suffer from mental health problems.
We offer a range of leisure, therapeutic, educational and social activities and facilities, developed in consultation with our members, in order to promote integration and mental and social well being.
The centre was set up as a registered charity in 1985. It employs volunteer workers and around 10 staff who constitute an important element of the service we provide.
The centre is managed by a committee made up of representatives from various local mental health services, including Stockport Mind and Making Space, together with members of the centre and other interested persons.
We are principally funded by Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council Social Services, but a considerable amount is raised annually through fundraising and also from events organised by the centre and its members.
