For over thirty years Praxis has been working with refugee and migrant communities. We work to secure the fundamental rights of, among others, refugees, asylum seekers, survivors of human trafficking and gender-based violence, unaccompanied young people fleeing conflict, those exploited in work, and destitute homeless migrants and their families.
Our vision is for a society that welcomes displaced people and migrants, promotes human rights and enables people to live in dignity and make a contribution to the economic, social and cultural life of the UK. We support over 2,000 people per year. We work with them to resolve their complex issues by providing specialist immigration, housing and welfare advice at the same time as ensuring they have a safe place to live, food to eat and are treated with dignity and respect.
Through our group work we help people to support each other and develop their knowledge and confidence to deal with seemingly hopeless situations and intractable problems. We seek to challenge exclusion and improve policy and service provision in the wider sector and beyond by drawing on the lived experiences of migrants.
