The Gorilla Organization's mission is to secure the long-term survival of the world's endangered gorillas living in their natural habitat.
We aim to do this through a conservation programme that combines Conservation, Research, Education and Development.
All sub-species of gorilla are classified as endangered by the International Union of Conservation of Nature and the biggest threat to their survival is loss of habitat due to the increasing population surrounding them.
We understand that the survival of these most precious animals is intertwined with that of the local people, who depend on the gorilla’s habitat for the basics that we take for granted – firewood, medicinal plants, water and food. By finding sustainable alternatives, we can improve their lives, ensuring the survival of the forest and in turn, that of the gorillas.
