Glasgow Street Pastors is a volunteer-based initiative with a mandate to be a tangible Christian influence in the great city of Glasgow. The Street Pastors are in the City Centre every weekend from 10 p.m. till 4 a.m. to help, care, and to listen.
GSP work in partnership with local churches, Glasgow City Council, and Strathclyde Police.
We offer :
1. a visible trustworthy presence at night. We seek to be alert to trouble, calm or prevent violent incidents, secure potentially dangerous implements, and liaise with authorities and club security staff as necessary, through personal and radio contact to CCTV and Police.
2. a non-judgemental listening ear and caring support to anyone in need. Those we regularly assist include addicts, homeless, vulnerable, violent, abused, prostitutes, lonely, hurting, sick or drunk, and especially the young partying to excess.
3. practical help : we give out supplies where especially needed such as water, food, clothing or bedding, secure footwear, anti-rape drink stoppers; and offer minor first aid; put the vulnerable or lost in touch with friends/family or other agencies, organise transport home; and call in emergency support as needed.
