Amputee World Cup 2018

Event dates: 31st July 2018 – 1st September 2018

Ben Houghton is raising money for England Amputee Football Association

My story

Hi and thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.

My name is Ben Houghton and I am a striker for the England Amputee Football Team. I have been an amputee since birth but haven't let anything get in my way as I have had the huge honour of representing my country in several different tournaments around the world.

This year we are aiming to push on from last year's successes where we won the inaugural Amp Polska Cup in Warsaw. Followed by just missing out on the trophy in the European Championships narrowly losing 2-1 in the final to host nation Turkey. We will be hoping to go one further by lifting the Amputee World Cup which will be held in Guadalajara Mexico later this year.

This year the amputee squad have travelled to Dublin and Houston for friendlies against Ireland, Poland, Haiti and The USA with us so far unbeaten this year. On the 7th September we travel to Poland to defend our success of last year before heading to Guadalajara for the biggest tournament of our lives.

All of this wouldn't be possible with out the help of everybody back home as the England Amputee Football Association isn't backed by any of the footballing governing bodies so we rely solely on kind donations to make our dreams of representing our country a reality.

Because we are not funded by any sporting bodies each player needs to raise £1200 to go towards training facilities, equipment, accommodation and flights to our destinations. I have already managed to raise funds from other sources which has covered my trips to Dublin and Houston, but unfortunately I am still short by £600. So I'm giving it one final push to try and raise enough funds for me to attend the world cup and hopefully make England proud.

So please if you can anything it would be highly appreciated.

Please feel free to share this page aswell. As awareness is also key to our success.

Thank you again for taking the time to read this page
