Alison's 50th Dementia Fund!

Event date: 10th June 2017

Alison McMaw is raising money for Dementia Forward

My story

Alison would like to request donations in replace of gifts for her forthcoming 50th Birthday celebrations. Alison is raising money for her chosen local charity, Dementia Forward. Her office have pledged to raise and donate the equivalent in anything she raises.

Dementia Forward supports people living with Dementia in the areas of Harrogate District, Ripon, York and The Vale,

Dementia Forward fund the work of the only Admiral Nurse in our area which Alison would particularly like to donate to.

Admiral Nurses have unique skills and experience in providing care and support to people with Dementia and their families, carers and health professionals. Dementia Forward's Admiral Nurse also leads the team of Dementia Support Advisers who work for Dementia Forward. Other services an Admiral Nurse provides include:

Providing psychological support to help family, carers and people with dementia understand and deal with their feelings and emotions.

Supporting family carers to develop and improve their skills in care giving.

Liaising with other professionals and organisations to provide coordinated care for people and their families.

Providing therapeutic, psycho-educational and social support groups for family carers.

Delivering specially tailored training to community groups and care homes.

Running Peer Support Groups for people with a diagnosis of dementia.

Thank you for your support.
