About my fundraising
On 7th December 2011 my life was changed forever by the birth of my baby boy. Almost immediately after birth, it was noticed that he had serious respiratory problems and he was taken along to the resuscitation room before being admitted into the Neo-Natal Unit for specialist care. After a perfectly normal and healthy pregnancy this was the last thing that me and my partner had expected. The first image that we had of our newborn baby boy was of him in an incubator, attached to machines both monitoring and assisting him in his first few hours of life. At a perfectly healthy 8lb11oz, both us and the doctors could not provide a definitive explanation as to why he was so sick, and this concerned us greatly.
After 5 days in the NNU at Forth Valley Royal in Larbert, he was finally discharged. The care that he received in the hospital was second to none and I have no doubt that the quick intervention of the doctors and midwives saved his life. At 5 months old, Caleb is now a normal he...
