About Wallace & Gromit's Children's Foundation
Wallace & Gromit's Children's Foundation is the only UK charity championing the cause of sick children by raising funds to improve the quality of life of children in hospitals and hospices.
The Foundation funds an innovative range of projects to ensure children in hospitals and hospices have access to the very best comforts, facilities and equipment giving them a better, brighter future. These include arts, music and play therapy programs, sensory equipment and facilities, respite care, state of the art equipment and pull down beds and refreshments rooms for parents.
These extra facilities not covered by statutory funding, can make an extra-ordinary difference to the lives of children and their families in hospitals and hospices. We can't stop children getting ill or cure every illness but Wallace & Gromit's Children's Foundation works hard to ensure that children in hospitals and hospices receive the very best care, comforts and facilities available. Family Accommodation To create and run family accommodation facilities and support services in 27 children?s hospitals. For any parent with a sick child, it is comforting to know there is somewhere to stay close to their child. A child?s first response when faced with traumatic treatment is to seek comfort from their parents and family. Parents are actively encouraged to participate in their child?s care, and, in turn we must provide not just for the needs of the patients but also of the parents and in some cases the whole family. Family accommodation is an invaluable resource to support families with sick children and create a home for home environment Stimulating the Senses Sensory Rooms and Facilities in 10 regional hospitals and hospices. These facilities help to stimulate children?s senses to aid recovery and support interaction, discovery and communication for children with special needs. They are also used to re-habilitate children who have suffered major trauma such as a car accident. The Power of Play Play is very important to help children adapt to difficulties they may have resulting from hospitalization or whilst receiving respite care to make the experience less traumatic. We will fund a range of play therapies including equipment and facilities to encourage the children to develop their creative skills to express their thoughts and to help distract and entertain them whilst they are being treated. Child Centred Environments Art both as a therapeutic tool and within art enhanced environments has proven benefits to children being treated and cared for in children?s hospitals and hospices. With your help we will be able to support art therapy and provide vibrant art enhanced child focused areas in 20 hospitals and hospices across the UK. Therapy Will help provide therapeutic toys for children with special needs including puppets for puppet therapy to help children who might find it difficult to communicate how they are feeling when they are in hospital or being cared for in a hospice.

TO RELIEVE THE NEEDS OF CHILDREN SUFFERING FROM ILLNESSES, DISEASES OR DISABILITIES AND IN PARTICULAR (BUT WITHOUT PREJUDICE TO THE GENERALITY OF THE FOREGOING) BY THE ENHANCEMENT AND IMPROVEMENT FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT OF THE SERVICES PROVIDED BY HOSPITALS AND HOSPICES (AND NOT NORMALLY PROVIDED FROM STATUTORY FUNDS) FOR THE CARE AND TREATMENT OF SUCH CHILDREN INCLUDING BY:
A) THE PROVISION OF MEDICAL EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES FOR USE IN THE CARE AND TREATMENT OF CHILD PATIENTS AT ANY SUCH HOSPITAL OR HOSPICE;
B) THE PROVISION IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE OF AMENITIES AND RECREATIONAL FACILITIES FOR THE USE AND BENEFIT OF CHILD PATIENTS WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THEIR CONDITIONS OF LIFE;
C) THE PROVISION IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE OF ACCOMMODATION, AMENITIES AND SUPPORT FOR RELATIVES OF CHILD PATIENTS; WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THEIR CONDITIONS OF LIFE; AND
