VAN - Volunteer Action Northamptonshire

We deliver activities to children and young people that they can use to get jobs, training or an education.

Most of these children and young people have slipped through the net somehow.

They’re too young, failing at school or causing trouble at home.

These activities mean they have a chance to prove they’re good at something.

Children and young people tell us what they’re interested in.

Then we set up placements, projects and workshops for them to take part in.

Some young people set up their own activities.

Others act as assistants.

Adults and businesses set up training programmes too.

Basically, it’s an informal way of learning that works.

AND, because it’s so broad-based it has much wider benefits too.

They can be doing anything from learning stand-up comedy to landscaping their disabled neighbour ‘s garden. The projects make our communities better places to live in.
