Our Tahoe Rim Trail Challenge!

Taking time out to reflect on the impact of having had a cancer diagnosis can help restore a sense of oneself beyond the illness.

Hospital treatments focus on the illness but often falls short of taking into consideration the patients (and their family's) mental wellbeing.

CancerLife Southwest provides free of charge residential therapeutic breaks for cancer sufferers and their carers facilitated by appropriately trained therapists. They provide support through counselling, relaxation and meditation sessions to help release tension, improve sleep, help focus on yourself and improve quality of life.

In September, we (Alice and Mark) are embarking on a grand challenge. We will be hiking the 165mile long Tahoe Rim Trail in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California and Nevada. Reaching elevations over 10 thousand feet, the hike should take two weeks during which time we will be self sufficient in the wilderness.

Neither of us have ever tackled anything of quite this magnitude before and we hope that our adventure can also benefit a charity doing invaluable work for cancer sufferers.
