TreeHouse is the national charity for autism education. Today, in the UK, at least 1 in 100 children are affected by autism. Autism is a devastating life-long neurological disorder that affects just about every aspect of how a person understands the world. It is four times more common in boys than girls. No one knows the precise causes of autism and there is no cure. Education is widely recognised to be the key intervention to improve outcomes for children with autism but currently there are only about 7,500 places for a minimum of 100,000 children with a diagnosis of autism in the UK.
