About The Tea Leaf Trust
The Tea Leaf Trust was set-up in January 2008 to alleviate poverty and provide opportunities to the tea-picking regions of Sri Lanka. Through establishing Community Centres that are accessible from tea estates and the surrounding farmland, the Tea Leaf Trust will deliver a raft of projects including English, I.T and Vocational Training to enable the most impoverished to find employment in trainee/ junior management roles. Alongside this programme, we will run a series of workshops to address the other social needs of the region: health awareness; women?s groups and activities for community cohesion.

THE OBJECTS ARE THE RELIEF OF POVERTY, HARDSHIP AND SUFFERING ANYWHERE IN SRI LANKA BUT PARTICULARLY IN TEA PLANTATION DISTRICTS BY: ASSISTING PEOPLE TO OBTAIN AND RETAIN EMPLOYMENT THROUGH TRAINING, IMPARTING SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND CREATION OF OPPORTUNITY; HELPING PEOPLE OF LOW INCOME OR IN POVERTY REGARDLESS OF THEIR RELIGION, CULTURE, GENDER OR PERSONAL SITUATIONS; ASSISTING IN BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS THAT WILL PROVIDE SHELTER AND INFRASTRUCTURE FOR LOCAL PEOPLE FOR ENHANCEMENT OF THEIR EDUCATION, AND OF THEIR STANDARD OF LIFE THROUGH THE DEVELOPMENT OF AGRICULTURE, INDUSTRY, TRADE, WATER SUPPLY AND SANITATION; AND ANY OTHER ACTIVITIES NECESSARY FOR OR ANCILLARY TO THE FOREGOING OBJECTS.
