About The Orpheus centre
The Orpheus Centre provides unique opportunities for young disabled adults (18-25) with a passion for performing arts, who want to gain skills to live independently. We promote transition and personal development through performing arts so students gain the skills to live independently in the community and to make informed choices about their futures.
The Orpheus centre is a place to live, learn and develop. We offer a range of services, which are available to students as part of a bespoke programme; accessible how and when the students desire.

£15: The average amount given by monthly by an Argonaut £25: Buys art materials for a visual art session £150: Pays for an Independence Tutor for a day to help teach students money management and other life skills £275: Allows us to assess a student; the first step in their Orpheus journey £425: Pays a student?s fees on a one week short course £800: Pays for a disability awareness programme in the local community £975: Will give our new flats a lick of paint and nicely decorated bathrooms. £2,500: Required to bring the magic of The Tempest to a larger stage through props, set and costume designed by our students £2950: Clos-o-Mat specialist toilet (allowing students to use the toilet without support).

THE OBJECTS OF THE CHARITY ARE 3.1 THE RELIEF OF YOUNG DISABLED PEOPLE IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOREGOING BY THE PROVISION OF RESIDENTIAL CARE FACILITIES; AND 3.2 THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION PARTICULARLY OF YOUNG DISABLED PEOPLE THROUGH THE PROVISION OF: 3.2.1 OPPORTUNITIES TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PERFORMING ARTS AS CREATORS, PERFORMERS, TECHNICIANS, ADMINISTRATORS AND AUDIENCES; AND 3.2.2 TRAINING, LEARNING AND OTHER FACILITIES WHICH SUPPORT THEIR PROGRESS TOWARDS INDEPENDENT LIVING.
