About my fundraising
On the 26th Feb, I will be flying out to Tanzania to climb Mount.Kilimanjaro. I am dedicating this challenge to a local charity in York called The Island.
The Island is a charity that has been established in York to work with children and young people aged 8-13years. Young people are referred from various agencies across the city because they are vulnerable in some way.
The Island puts these young people in contact with trained volunteer mentors who provide them with dedicated time as they encounter difficult transitions in their lives. Besides increasing their confidence and self-esteem, mentors also introduce young people to new positive forms of recreational activity.
My goal is to raise at least £520. This would provide funding for one mentee to have a one mentoring session a week for a whole year. This time is invaluable to a vulnerable young person. Please help me reach that goal with your pledge.
