Who is the Brooke?

The Brooke is the UK's leading overseas equine welfare charity and our aim is to improve the lives of horses, donkeys and mules working in the poorest parts of the world. These animals form the backbone of the economy in many developing countries, supporting countless poor communities where many people earn less than a dollar a day.

What does the Brooke do?

With over 800 staff in the field, the Brooke's mobile vet teams and community animal health workers, and our partner organisations worldwide, provide free treatment to animals and train animal owners, local healers, farriers, saddlers, feed sellers, harness and cart makers. We currently operate across ten countries in Asia, Africa, Central America and the Middle East.

... help the Brooke reach our goal of increasing the number of working animals we reach from 730,000 to measurably improving the lives of two million suffering horses, donkeys and mules who need our help most in the world by 2016. How you can help: £7.16 could help us reach one more hardworking horse or donkey, £10 could pay for anti-rabies vaccinations for 20 hardworking horses or donkeys, £30 could pay to train a community animal health worker, who will work with communities to improve animal welfare and £40 could pay for a vet for a day, who will treat sick and injured horses and donkeys, and train their owners

1) TO RELIEVE THE SUFFERING OF EQUIDS AND OTHER ANIMALS IN NEED OF CARE AND ATTENTION AND IN PARTICULAR TO PROVIDE OR MAINTAIN ANIMAL HOSPITALS OR OTHER FACILITIES FOR THE RECEPTION AND TREATMENT OF SICK OR ILL-TREATED ANIMALS IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT; AND 2) TO PROMOTE EDUCATION IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT IN THE CARE AND WELFARE OF ANIMALS AND IN THE TREATMENT OF SICK ANIMALS; AND FOR THIS PURPOSE "AREA OF BENEFIT" MEANS ANY AREA OUTSIDE THE UNITED KINGDOM BUT WITH A PREFERENCE FOR THE MIDDLE EAST, INDIA AND PAKISTAN
