About Back Up

Every eight hours, someon's life is changed forever.

At Back Up we know a spinal cord injury can be devastating, but we believe that it shouldn't prevent anyone from getting the most out of life.

Back Up is for everyone affected by spinal cord injury, regardless of age, level of injury, or background. We are here for family members too.

Our services include mentoring, wheelchair skills training and activity courses as well as support in getting back to work or school after an injury. Back Up provides peer led tailored support to help people adjust to a spinal cord injury and inspire independence and confidence for a positive future.

We help you get your life back and achieve your goals; whether these are about family, work, lifestyle, social life, travel, or simply to feel positive about the future.

Funds raised may be used to ...

£25 could enable one spinal cord injured participant to attend a wheelchair skills course in a spinal unit, which improves his or her confidence and independence. £500 will enable one school support worker to attend a workshop which will enable them to effectively work with a young person returning to education after sustaining a spinal cord injury.

THE OBJECTS OF THE COMPANY ARE IN RELATION TO PERSONS SUFFERING FROM SPINAL CORD INJURY OR RELATED NON-CONGENITAL DISEASES OR INJURIES THE RELIEF OF THOSE DISEASES OR INJURIES AND THE PROMOTION OF THE WELFARE OF PERSONS WITH THEM IN ANY MANNER WHICH IS NOW OR MAY HEREAFTER BE DEEMED TO BE CHARITABLE AS THE TRUSTEES SHALL FROM TIME TO TIME DETERMINE AND IN PARTICULAR THROUGH PROVISION OF TARGETED SERVICES THAT: (A) FURTHER REHABILITATION AND ENCOURAGE INDEPENDENCE OF SUCH INDIVIDUALS; (B) PROMOTE THEIR INTEGRATION WITHIN SOCIETY; (C) PROMOTE EDUCATION AND AWARENESS WITHIN SOCIETY OF ISSUES RELEVANT TO SPINAL CORD INJURY OR RELATED NON-CONGENITAL DISEASES OR INJURIES; (D) TO PROMOTE THE INVOLVEMENT OF THE ORGANISATION IN SCIENTIFIC MEDICAL RESEARCH INTO THE NATURE CAUSES TREATMENT AND PREVENTION OS SUCH INJURIES AND THE PROMOTION IN THE RELEVANT MEDICAL AND SCIENTIFIC FIELDS
