The Aspinall Foundation

The Aspinall Foundation in conjunction with Howletts and Port Lympne Wild Animal Parks are devoted to saving rare and endangered animals, returning them to protected areas in the wild. Our objectives are: To halt the extinction of rare and endangered species in the wild. To continue to provide the most natural environment possible for the animals in both parks based in Kent. To continue re-introducing these animals back to their wild habitat where this is possible. To continue to be world leaders in animal husbandry and breeding. To be a partner and catalyst to conservation efforts at home and abroad. These activities include two gorilla rescue and rehabilitation projects, one in the Republic of Congo and other in the neighbouring state of Gabon. We have over forty gorillas in our care in both countries, thirty-eight of whom have been successfully re-introduced.
