About The Architectural Heritage Fund

The Architectural Heritage Fund (AHF)established in 1976, operates as a national revolving fund whose foremost purpose is to give charities access to working capital for projects to regenerate historic buildings for the benefit of the community. This means that every penny donated to the AHF is used again and again to breathe new life into a remarkable range of projects in every part of the UK, from a run down row of shops and flats in Wolverhampton to a redundant church in Orkney, a derelict windmill in Lincolnshire to a neglected School in Wales. Thousands of historic buildings remain in jeopardy and almost all could be brought back into productive use, enhancing the environment, regenerating local economies, keeping life in town centres, and all sparing the countryside from new development. B) TO PROTECT AND CONSERVE OR PROMOTE THE PROTECTION AND CONSERVATION OF THE CHARACTER AND HERITAGE OF THE CITIES TOWNS AND VILLAGES IN AND AROUND WHICH SUCH BUILDINGS MONUMENTS OR OTHER EDIFICES OF STRUCTURES EXIST.
