About THE ACT NETWORK - ACTION TUTORING
The Act Network aims to resource scalable social action initiatives in cities such as London. Action Tutoring is such an initiative, providing volunteer tutors to work one to one with pupils in inner city schools preparing for GCSEs in English and Maths. We focus on working with pupils on the D/C borderline with the aim of helping them achieve a C or above in both subjects to increase their chances of going on to further education, employment or training. Action Tutoring is currently working in 12 schools around London, supporting over 200 pupils, and is aiming to work with 30-40 schools in academic year 2012/2013

THE CHARITY'S OBJECTS ('THE OBJECTS') ARE TO ADVANCE THE CHRISTIAN GOSPEL FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC BY DEMONSTRATING CHRIST'S LOVE AND TEACHING IN CITIES AND OTHER COMMUNITIES WHERE THERE IS SPIRITUAL AND MATERIAL NEED THROUGH: 3.1 THE TRAINING, ENCOURAGEMENT AND SUPPORT OF EXISTING MINISTRIES AND VOLUNTEERS; 3.2 THE PROMOTION OF COLLABORATION BETWEEN CHURCHES OF ALL DENOMINATIONS IN THEIR COMMUNITY; AND 3.3 THE ENCOURAGEMENT OF PRACTICAL EXPRESSIONS OF THE CHRISTIAN LIFE THROUGH THE LOCAL CHURCH, TO ACHIEVE SOCIAL TRANSFORMATION.
