About my fundraising
I am once again planning to swim across the Solent, this time in aid of the West Wight Sports Center, a very good cause. It is also a good cause for me, as it motivates me to finish my 100 laps each morning!
The swim is from Hurst Castle on the mainland to Colwell Beach, here on the Isle of Wight. It's not a long way, but the currents and tides are very swift and strong. This is why good planning and the need for kayakers and other boats to accompany the swimmers is so important.
I am very excited about this swim. I have improved my swimming technique since the last time I attempted this, two years ago. It will be interesting to discover how the difference in the swim across feels to me.
And, I am very happy to be helping West Wight Sports Centre. Since I took up swimming, I realiuze just how crucial centres like this are to help keep communities healthy and fit. In addition, whatever amount I raise over 250 (pounds) I will donate to my own local swimming pool, ...
