About SSAFA Forces Help

The Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families’ Association (SSAFA) Forces Help is the national charity helping and supporting those who serve in our Armed Forces, those who used to serve, and the families of both.

Each year we provide a reliable, caring and trusted service to more than 50,000 people through a network of professionally trained staff and volunteers.

One day’s paid service in any of our Armed Forces is all that is needed to qualify for assistance from SSAFA Forces Help. This includes those who serve in our Reserve Forces and anyone who did National Service as well as close relatives, widows and widowers.

THE OBJECTS FOR WHICH THE ASSOCIATION IS ESTABLISHED AND INCORPORATED ARE TO RELIEVE NEED, SUFFERING AND DISTRESS AMONGST THE WIVES, HUSBANDS, FORMER HUSBANDS, FAMILIES, WIDOWS, WIDOWERS, CHILDREN AND OTHER DEPENDANTS OF THE MEMBERS AND FORMER MEMBERS OF ALL RANKS OF ALL BRANCHES OF OUR LAND, SEA AND AIR FORCES, AND IN ADDITION TO RELIEVE NEED, SUFFERING AND DISTRESS AMONGST PRESENT AND FORMER MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION'S PROFESSIONAL NURSING AND WELFARE SERVICE, SUBJECT TO THOSE IN ANY OF THE FOREGOING CLASSES BEING ASSISTED SATISFYING SUCH REQUIREMENTS CONCERNING LENGTH OF SERVICE AS THE COUNCIL MAY FROM TIME TO TIME SPECIFY BY REGULATIONS.
