South London Gallery

The South London Gallery is a nationally and internationally recognized centre of excellence in the provision of contemporary visual art. It opened on its present site in 1891 with the aim of `bringing art to the working people of south London’ and has continued to do so ever since showing challenging new work by emerging and established British and international artists. In addition to a programme of six exhibitions a year, the Gallery shows a pioneering live art programme and offsite projects supported by innovative events and education provision for schools, community groups, families and other visitors.
