Thanks for visiting Jo Swim 2010. This year I am planning to swim the 2km race up the Thames at Henley much faster......maybe even attempt some front crawl. I am supporting a different Charity this year - Serian UK. Serian UK is a small charity which is currently raising funds for Noonkodin Secondary School situated in a remote area of northern Tanzania. There are few secondary schools in Tanzania and a major obstacle is cost, as all secondary schools are fee paying, so a minority of children attend school beyond primary age. Noonkodin School currently has 170 male and female students aged 14 to 25. Most of the students come from the surrounding Maasai tribes and many are financially supported by Serian UK as is the school itself. Due to the distances and dangerous landscape many of the students have to board. Economic opportunity for the future is limited for those who do not complete secondary education. The charity is run by voluntary trustees in the UK and every penny raised goes towards the cause to which it is pledged which in this case is to ensure that students can complete their education.
