Sarah and Ten Great Midlands Fun Run for the Cinnamon Trust!

Event date: 2nd June 2019

Sarah Shaw is raising money for The Cinnamon Trust

My story

I am passionate about the Cinnamon Trust. I became a volunteer when my son, Zak, chose this charity to work with to attain his Duke of Edinburgh Silver. We have been volunteers for over 6 months.

The Cinnamon Trust is the only specialist charity whose aims are to relieve anxieties, problems and injustices faced by elderly and the terminally ill and their pets. cinnamon.org.uk
Founded in 1985 by Averil Jarvis the Trust is named after her 17 year old Corgi, Cinnamon, who passed away that same year. Its premise is simple; to provide peace of mind and practical help for people - and love, care and safety for their pets. Pets benefit the elderly and infirm in many ways: research has evidenced pet ownership improves the quality of peoples? lives immeasurably.
Pets provide companionship, happiness, protection, warmth, loyalty and love without criticism. Having animals in their lives can provide routine and structure and can lift depression and alleviate loneliness. They neutralise anxiety in all ways other than when an owner becomes deeply concerned should they no longer be in a position to care for their cherished friends properly.
The Trust?s primary objective is to respect and preserve the treasured relationship between owners and their pets. To this end it works in partnership with owners to overcome any difficulties that might arise. A national network of over 15,000 community service volunteers has been established to provide practical help when any aspect of day-to-day care poses a problem ? for example, walking the dog for a housebound owner.

Having mainly been raising the charity's visibility I now want to fundraise for this great cause!

It is a no brainer for Ten and I to run the Great Midlands Fun Run again - a 15km run through the park of Sutton Coldfield on 2 June to include the notorious Cardia Arrest Hill!

Everyone who donates can elect a costume for me to wear and the choice is a dog, a cat or a bird. The costume with the most votes will be worn by me. In addition, I will price match the total donations made for the winning costume - so please dig deep to make me do the same!

Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto The Cinnamon Trust.
