Rose Centre Project

In the poorer parts of Comanesti there are many young adult females (and others) living in appalling conditions, enduring real hardship and desperation with no hope for the future. Many young adult women who have been brought up in institutions are evicted when they reach the age of 18 (or have completed their full-time education) and have nowhere to go. So they survive, if you can call it that, on the streets! Little wonder many are victims of prostitution and trafficking.

The Rose Centre project will provide them with short term accommodation and skills training (for up to 16 females) with the objective of helping them find a job and somewhere to live in the longer term.

Work is progressing well with the renovations on the top floor of the building. To date the old plastering has been removed, new double glazed windows installed, electrics replaced, walls and ceilings plastered and painted, new central heating system installed, toilets and showers tiled and the plumbing of toilets and showers is nearly completed.

The next stage will be laminating the floors and fitting doors. Then we can start unpacking the many furniture and supplies that have been sent over and start setting up the rooms. We are nearly there, but need more funding to do the floors and doors!

It would be fantastic to get the work completed to open the centre in the autumn, to get some of the females off the streets and settled in the safety of the centre for the start of their new lives.
