About my fundraising
Huntington's Disease is currently killing my husband. It's not like a virus that strikes and quickly takes its victim. It works slowly and surely and one by one it takes away every basic function that you or I take for granted. Walking; talking; being able to swallow without fear of choking to death; being able to use the toilet as an adult would instead of being reduced to a kind of nappy; being able to enjoy the simple things in life like music and reading. Until a cure is found, or at least better treatment, my husband and many like him will be watching their own lives being ripped apart. As it has a 50% chance of being inherited my husband has already watched his dad die of it and chosen not to become a father.
