Nikki Sammon has completed a Tandem sky dive on 31st August 2012 in order to raise funds for the new Mezzanine floor in the North aisle of St Mark's Church, Bilton, Rugby.

Total Amount raised as of 29/10/12 - £1,106 from everyclick and paper sponsorship forms. A big thank you to you all for your donations.

The sky dive - A very Emotional day, After a brief brief and a quick change and some nervous chat it was off into the small noisy aeroplane. Packed in for a 8 minute assent to a cloudy but blue sky. This I immensely enjoyed watching villages and towns emerge beneath us circled by a patchwork of fields true England. Seeing a glimpse of silverstone race track excited me and was captured by the camera man, the next thing I knew the plane slowed red light followed by green lit in front of me and I watched the 4 solo flyers fall from the plane. Next it was us shuffling forwards legs tucked under the plane camera man poised I forgot to smile, wave or show any emotion apart from fear as I stuck the pose ready to fall. Tumbling out we went rolling as we fell the cold and speed of the air rushing past making it difficult to catch my breath. This I did not enjoy. The camera man filmed and I managed a smile as I breathed through my mouth like a fish, my mind was saying only 45 seconds of this that's all just 45 seconds....but just to make me feel a whole lot worse my pilot decided to do a couple of circles round making me feel pretty sick. As you can probably tell I did not enjoy this. I felt immediate relief when the parachute was pulled and we began to glide. This was fun, gliding above the trees holding onto the steering ropes turning us to watch the view I may even have laughed in delight. I even had time to think of my husband joking about me landing in the trees like our practice parachuting teddies the day before. With a full forest below it was an option. Soon though we were siring above the heads of my friends and relations below, I waved madly as I spotted my mum in her bright turquoise top. We circled over the field and went in from the landing, this was a bit of a mess and I fell over, so ungracefully. But quickly I was free to run over and greet my friends as they landed. One under the canopy and the other one squealing with laughter in excitement. What an experience and if I didn't have to descend at 120mph in free fall first I would do it again.
