I did it! I ran 10k at Cheddar Gorge on June 17th, for a charity called Development in Action, who I am working with the summer.

I will be going to Pune, India with Development in Action for two months, to work with one of their partners, a grassroots NGO, Deep Griha Society: http://deepgriha.org/

DGS coordinates a number of programmes that encompass education, healthcare and awareness to improve the lives of people living in the slums of Pune. This includes women's empowerment, youth empowerment, child development and more. Whilst there I will working on these programmes.

I will also be completing a personal project which will be used as a development eduction resource upon my return. I hope to do a case study on women's empowerment through the celebration of role models. Tackling gender inequality is a key element to achieving global development goals. In recent decades, women's and girls' education and health levels have vastly improved, but in many parts of the world, women continue to lack voice in their household and in society and their opportunities remain off limits. Investing in girls and women is necessary for poverty reduction and to open economic and social development.

I need to raise £880 for the two months with Development in Action. This does not pay for my flights or personal costs, it goes to the charity. I would be so grateful for anything you can donate, to help me begin to make a difference (and to keep me running on the 17th!)
