I am running my first half marathon on 13th November. This is a massive challenge, not only because it's 13.1 miles, but because training at this time of year means confronting dark, cold and rain, and taking to the seafront and the downs in defiance of the approaching winter sloth.

Please support me in combating the seasonal blues, but more importantly in raising money for a charity striving to rebuild communities displaced, thrown into poverty and orphaned following the Sri Lankan civil war. As many of you will know I am visiting Sri Lanka in December and I am sure I will take a lot of pleasure from the country. I would also like in some small way to give something back. Lotus Caring Hands (www.lotuscaringhands.org.uk) are working to re-establish education and basic living means to war affected Sri Lankan's, primarily children, helping them to develop and have opportunities.
