About Kidney Research UK
Right now, the lives of 3 million people in the UK are threatened by chronic kidney disease. Young, old, male, female, it can strike anyone. Kidney Research UK is the leading national charity dedicated to funding research that will lead to better treatment and cures for kidney disease. As well as funding vital research, Kidney Research UK also helps care for patients, and raises awareness of kidney-related issues among the general public. Our patient information service provides advice and literature on how best to deal with each type of renal disease.

Around 75% of Kidney Research UKs expenditure goes directly into funding research. As the largest funder of research into kidney disease in the country, Kidney Research UK has worked with world-class scientific researchers and clinicians for over forty five years, during which time we have funded significant advances in renal replacement therapy. With the help of our research, dialysis and transplantation have become ever more effective forms of treatment for people with established renal failure. However, major problems still remain. As the number of people with kidney disease is set to soar over coming years, our work, which relies mainly on donations from the general public, becomes more essential than ever.

3.1 THE ADVANCEMENT AND PROMOTION OF RESEARCH INTO KIDNEY AND URINARY TRACT AND INTO THE DISEASES WHICH AFFECT THEM. SUCH RESEARCH INCLUDES EPIDEMIOLOGICAL,CLINICAL AND BASIC RESEARCH DIRECTED TOWARDS UNDERSTANDING THE PROCESSES RESPONSIBLE FOR KIDNEY DISEASE AS WELL AS THE DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION OF TREATMENT OF DISEASES OF THE KIDNEY AND URINARY TRACT; 3.2 THE DISSEMINATION OF KNOWLEDGE AND RESEARCH ABOUT THE KIDNEY AND URINARY TRACT AND THEIR DISEASES BY ALL POSSIBLE MEANS AND AS WIDELY AS POSSIBLE IN A MANNER WHICH CAN BEST SERVE THOSE WHO MAY BENEFIT; 3.3 THE RELIEF OF PERSONS SUFFERING FROM KIDNEY DISEASE; AND 3.4 THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC ABOUT KIDNEY DISEASE AND THE NEEDS OF PERSONS SUFFERING FROM IT
