About Homeless International
Homeless International supports slum communities in Africa and Asia to reduce poverty and improve living conditions.
One billion people - a sixth of the world's total population - live in slums. This figure will increase to 1.4 billion by 2020 if urgent action is not taken to address urban poverty. For over twenty years Homeless International has been supporting slum dwellers to secure land, build decent homes, get safe water and sanitation, and negotiate with governments - ensuring that they have a voice that gets heard.
A proper home provides families with security and a better future for their children. Each year our work reaches thousands of households, helping to create safe, healthy and secure communities. Because our work is community-led, each donation we receive has the potential to help families make lasting changes to improve their lives - transforming slums and creating homes.
