About Grief Encounter Project

Set up in 2003, Grief Encounter is a child bereavement charity that helps children and young people in the UK rebuild their lives after the death of a parent or sibling.

The charity?s vision is to offer bereaved children and their families the best possible help, recognition and understanding following their loss. As part of this, Grief Encounter works to improve the resources available to children by providing practical guidelines on how to deal with bereavement.

In 2004, Grief Encounter published a workbook called Grief Encounter Project that was written by the charity?s founder Shelley Gilbert. The workbook has become widely recognised as an invaluable aid for children coping with bereavement ? as well as their families.
