About my fundraising
I am cycling 17 miles around Rutland Water on Saturday 15th May to raise money for a new project to upgrade medical facilities at a health centre in northern Ethiopia. This project is an initiative of the Leicester-Gondar Medical Link, which is registered as a charity in the name of Health Action Leicester for Ethiopia. The health centre in the town of Kolla Diba, which lies 60km south-west of Gondar serves an area with a population of 480,000 people but currently only has basic equipment and limited capacity to provide health care services. Successful implementation of the project would provide a much improved health care facility. Life expectancy in rural Ethiopia currently averages 43 years and 12% of infants do not see their first birthday. The planned upgrade would improve life expectancy rates. Included in the upgrade would be installation of an electricity generator, new laboratory equipment and a motorbike ambulance. Many thanks in advance for any donation you can make.
