Pier to Pier 2KM Challenge??

So?.. After finishing my degree I have decided to dive straight into the area of international development, and have accepted a 5 month placement in India, working alongside DIA, a UK based development charity. http://www.developmentinaction.org/

During my time in India I will be based in the city of Pune, working for the well established Grassroots NGO Deep Ghria Society. Some of my roles will include: Awareness campaigns Event organising Healthcare Teaching English and? Fundraising The thing is that the fundraising has to start before I set off for India which is why I?m sending out this message As part of being accepted onto the placement I have to raise £1600 for DIA, these costs are for admin, volunteer training, volunteer support and placement costs.

I have been thinking of ways to raise money over the last few months and have decided that as I live in sunny Brighton I will attempt a 2 km sponsored swim in the unloving sea of Brig... more

Friends and Family It?s 1Km between the Palace Pier and the West Pier so I am going to attempt to swim there and back, making it 2km. This is quite a challenge in choppy waters of Brighton?.I am planning on taking on the challenge on the 18th August., all support welcome, though I do stress this is most certainly not going to be a timed event. It would also be great to see loads of you on the day- perhaps some of you could come down to sunny Brighton and have a day out (weather is of course not guaranteed!)

I hope you have the time to look over what I?ll be doing or if you don?t have the time will trust that this is something worthwhile and important for me to go and do. Any sponsorship would be GREATLY appreciated.
