About my fundraising
The floods in Pakistan submerged an area the size of England, affecting around 20,000,000 people, with over 1,600 dead and 1,000,000 left with no homes to return to. The UN stated that the scale of the work needed to help the people is more than the 2004 tsunami, 2005 Pakistan earthquake and 2010 Haiti earthquake combined.
In addition to the Pakistan floods, there have also been some devastating floods in Niger, resulting in over 100,000 people in need of immediate help. Niger is one of the poorest countries in the world, and the flood it suffered generated very few column inches, and hence very few donations.
I'll be taking part in the 'Coast Along for WaterAid 2010' event, where I'll be doing the 10.9 m (17.9 km) Abbotsbury to Weymouth leg in Dorset on Saturday 11 September.
Whatever amount you're able to give will be greatly appreciated.
