About my fundraising
I am going to try and swim the Solent from Hurst Castle on the mainland to Colwell Bay on the Isle of Wight (approx 1.5 miles). I would like to stress that I am a happy pool swimmer but I AM TERRIFIED OF THE SEA.
I am raising money for the West Wight Sports Centre - a brilliant local facility serving the West Isle of Wight Community and also for the Dominic Simpson Memorial Trust (DSMT).
The DSMT was set up in memory of a friend, Dominic, following his sudden death at the age of 40 in 2004. Two of Dominic's passions were education and the Middle East so the DSMT was formed to support disadvantaged girls in the Palestinian Territories, helping them to complete/continue their education when otherwise they would not be able to. A very worthwhile cause.
