About Disability Essex (EDPA)
Essex Disabled People's Association (Disability Essex) works to enable independence for all people with disabilities across the county of Essex. We assist individuals across the county to make informed decisions about their life, by provision of a disability information resource, both on-line and through our helpline.
We help people to overcome loss of employment due to impairment by re-skilling them as Access Auditors
We also undertake research projects - our current IT based project seeks to resolve the problems people with a range of disabilities encounter when using standard IT equipment.

Provide additional services for disabled people. Thanks to our move into a bespoke HQ - with space to carry out training - we are already working in partnership with another local charity to provide training for disabled drivers and mobility scooter users.

TO RELIEVE PEOPLE LIVING WITH DISABILITIES IN PART BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY: (A) FACILITATING INDEPENDENT LIVING IN THE COMMUNITY, INCLUDING SOCIAL LIFE AND RECREATION; (B) PROVIDING SERVICES WHICH CONTRIBUTE TO THE QUALITY OF LIFE AND WELL BEING OF DISABLED PEOPLE; (C) ENCOURAGING AND SUPPORTING THE ESTABLISHMENT AND RUNNING OF GROUPS, ASSOCIATIONS, ORGANISATIONS, AND CLUBS SET UP FOR, AND/OR RUN BY, DISABLED PEOPLE FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROMOTING THE INTERESTS OF DISABLED PEOPLE; (D) ACTING AS A CO-ORDINATING BODY FOR VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS SUPPORTING THE RELIEF OF DISABLED PEOPLE IN ESSEX. (E) CO-OPERATING WITH OTHER APPROPRIATE BODIES IN WORKING FOR AND PROMOTING THE INTERESTS OF DISABLED PEOPLE IN ESSEX.
